t all started at Spadaro's airport in East Moriches. Ray Maynard and his ragged band of skydivers, wallowing in the sand and dust, waiting, hoping, praying for a better place to jump. In the distance we saw the untouchable airfield. US government property, no tresspassing under penalty of death. Area 51. Never did we think that skydivers would ever be allowed in those hallowed grounds. But then when we least expected, September 20th, 2000, our dream came true, we were allowed in. The uncut grass, the herds of deer, the huge runways were now ours. Out on runway 14-32 that night, the dream came alive.
